Yesterday I posted about the Found Sound project - just a follow-up here about DUMP, the piece by Alberto Gaitán. He's set up a server where anyone who is interested can upload audio files which will be processed and then piped into a port-a-potty next to the arts building at 1515 Fourteenth Street. Here's the poop:
  • Preferred: files of up to 5 MB. Since they'll be mangled, they don't have to be huge.
  • Melodic content welcome as much as textural.
  • Make sure it's stereo and uncompressed (AIFF or WAV) - no MP3s.
  • Preferred bit length and rate: 16-bit, 44100 Hz.
  • Accepting files through November 3.
  • ftp to: 207.227.119.145
    login: dumper
    passwd: dump.it

Unfortunately he doesn't have the bandwidth to stream out to the web, but I'm hoping he'll burn a CD with representative output. And by all means go visit all the Found Sound projects. There are some really great folks participating in this including Brandon Morse, Robin Rose and Richard Chartier. Also, there's gonna be a Harry Shearer piece over at Connor Contemporary.
